Tundé Adefioye is a dynamic Nigerian-American dramaturg, lecturer, and writer based in Belgium, passionately dedicated to transforming the performing arts and cultural education landscape. Co-founder of Urban Woorden (now Trill.be), a platform empowering youth expression in Leuven, Tundé and colleagues have been honored with the Prize for Cultural Education by the Flemish Government.
As a city-dramaturg in Brussels, Tundé has worked on groundbreaking projects such as Malcolm X, (Not) My Paradise, and Coloured Swan III at one of Belgium's most esteemed theatres. At Sint Lucas Antwerpen / School of Arts KdG, Tundé inspires the next generation of artists and thinkers, focusing on US popular Black visual culture, anti-colonial potentiality, and cultural criticism.
Inspired by two former students, Tundé co-founded Towards Braver Spaces Antwerp in 2020, a collective that organizes supper clubs, international summer schools, redistributes unsold organic produce to underserved communities, among place making activities. More than anything, Tundé believes in the power of collectivity; even when initiatives fail spectacularly, something valuable can be sprouted.
Currently, Tundé is embracing a slower pace, traveling less, and dedicating more time to reading and writing. Tundé has written articles and essays for various publications and co-edited a VUB Press book, Migration, Equality, Racism – 44 Opinions. Discover more on the publications page.
Tundé is available for speaking engagements, workshops, and facilitating spaces. Reach out via the contact form to discuss these opportunities or build.
